TV Discovery

So I go turn on HGTV's Designed to Sell for the NerdPie and I to watch. Then they had a carpenter named Greg that looked very familiar. Well, it was Greg Plitt, the over sexed trainer from the newest season of Bravo's Workout. Huh!

Fun with Math (Sort Of)

NerdDad found this. It is done by Mitchell and Webb, the same guys who do the British Windows/Mac commercials.

Divorce and Houses To Big?

I am watching Moving Up on TLC and I have a question. I have seen and interview similar to this many times. A divorcee is leaving her house because it is just way to big for her and the kids. Does 1 person make all that much of a size difference? I understand that there are many reasons for moving in a divorce but this particular reason just doesn't make sense.

I hate the makers of Army Wives!

Ok, not really but I just finished watching the Season 2 premiere of Army Wives(I love Tivo) and....

SPOILER ALERT!!!! If you are going to watch it and haven't stop reading.

Going in to this episode we were told that we would be loosing a cast member so I was sort of prepared. We see all the major cast members except a couple of the husbands (we know they aren't going to die or the wives would have to leave base). The bar owner is in a coma and I assume that Betty is going to be the "beloved member who is leaving us". We saw all the wives on base except Claudia Joy who was banged up and taking her banged up daughter to college (which we knew was happening). Then less than 10 minutes to the end we find out the whole interaction between Claudia and Amanda is in Claudia's head because Amanda is in the process of dieing. I cried, no sobbed. This show can already get to my emotions but this was sobbing. You know the ugly cry; snot, tears. That was a dirty, dirty trick.

Breaking News: Tim Russert is Dead

Tim Russert has passed away from a heart attack at the age of 58. The host of Meet the Press had the heart attack while recording voice overs an upcoming episode. I knew that Russert had been in politics for ever, working for people like Daniel Patrick Moynihan, but I didn't realize that he won an Emmy for his coverage of Ronald Reagan's funeral. While I didn't always agreed with his political views, he did such a balanced job on Meet the Press that I always liked watching the show. His presence will definitely be missed.

American Idol Confession

Ok, I don't watch American Idol. I know it is shocking. But, this morning I was listening to KDUV, my Christian radio station, and they were talking about the big American Idol fundraiser that was on last night. Joe and Shannon said that the closing song was shocking and then played a little bit of it. It was "Shout to the Lord". I confess that I just started tearing up immediately. The idea that the most watched show in television was playing that song is very exciting to me. After I get home today I will see if I can find a YouTube of it.

****Updated

Here is the YouTube. Within a half hour of my posting this one of my favorite nieces sent me the link! There is talk about the editing of the original words of the song. They did change "my Jesus" in the beginning but I am not sweating it. Anyone who has seen an infomercial has seen this being part of a Christian worship album so I don't think there is a mystery as to who it is really about.

Project Runway is Over!

So Project Runway is over for this season. Due to illness it has taken a while to get around to commenting on it. Now I preface my opinions with the fact that I admit that I am not, by any means, fashionable. More accurately you could say that I dress more like a housefrau. But, if money, size and life style (washing dishes and getting spit up on doesn't work well for clothes) were no issue, I would be fierce;).

So Christian won and I am a little disappointed. While I do think that Christian was the most artistic, I am not sure if he is the best clothing designer for women. Jillian and Rami both seemed to have looks that a woman with some sort of curvature could wear. I have heard in a few places that no one but Victoria Beckham, Christian himself and pre-pubescent girls could wear his clothes and I agree. Will it do Christian any good to have his line sold on BlueFly? Will it be bought by people to wear or as collectors items? I think he could really be great one day as long as he learns to temper his flare with the actual human form. Only time will tell his real potential.

Seperately, there is a great interview with Tim Gunn in the Chicago Tribune. Even more interesting is Victoria's response on Blogging Project Runway to part of that interview.

Is Project Runway biased toward Rami?

Blogging Project Runway has a great pre-finale piece. Does Rami's runoff with Chris has given him an unfair advantage over Christian and Jillian. Co check it out!

Project Runway: The Reunion

So did anyone watch the Project Runway reunion show last night? I think the thing that actually shocked me the most is when Tim Gunn asked if anything had been said that was really hurtful to any of them. Then Carmen Webber had said that things that had been said when she left had really hurt. Things like "I am just glad it wasn't me" and "Even if she had finished it wouldn't have been that good" that had been said by other competitors. Really? That was soooo unreasonable? For those of you who don't remember it was the menswear challenge and everyone was afraid that they would be sent home. I guess I am shocked that her skin was so thin. When the judges were asked about the worst design and they alluded to her design that got her tossed she actually looked angry. The judges just mentioned it as one of the worst designs because she sent her model out with cloth around his neck instead of a shirt. She could have had a sense of humor about the whole challenge like others did but I guess that just isn't part of her personality.

Oh, I found a great blog, Blogging Project Runway!

Grissom Leaving?

According to Buddy TV, William Petersen gave an interview to British Radio Times about him leaving CSI. While it seems vague it does seem impending. He also seems very critical of the whole franchise. The one thing that seems to hold him back is his responsibility to all who have a job through what he does. Maybe he realizes that without his character there is no CSI. If he leaves I wonder if they will try to replace his character and possibly let the show die a slow death or if they are just going to close up shop.

Project Runway is Back!

So as I am typing they are about to announce the winner and loser of this season's premiere episode of Project Runway and I have a couple of thoughts.

First, what was up with the chick using herself as the mannequin while she draped, pinned and fitted on herself? Was she the same one rubbing the silk on the grass to stain it? Can anyone say freakshow?

This season seems to have more accomplished designers than before. Hopefully that means they will be very talented and a little more professional in their demeanor.

How you know they really didn't care for your dress? When a judge says it looked like the model was "pooing fabric". The weird part is they kept that one.

Isn't Tim Gunn great?
